Introducing: Bench Time with the Claw
Chloe Kono
You know the days when your fridge is almost empty but you end up making the most amazing dish with only two random ingredients? That is how I want to look at this quarantine life. Do I struggle? Yes. Do I prefer social distancing on my own terms? Yes. Do I miss sushi? Holy shit yes! But can I make the best out of it? Well you bet your ass I am gonna try! That is basically how Bench Time with the Claw was born.
Hmmm….what the hell is Bench Time with the Claw? Glad you asked. It is my best attempt at keeping myself productive, content, and in touch with the outside world. My jeweler bench has always been my happy place and the antidote of my anxiety. Now more than ever, I need it like an infant needs her mama’s boobies. So, for the past two Wednesdays, I have gone LIVE on Instagram for an hour or so, just to make stuff like I always do, but also to hang out and chat with my friends and followers who kindly showed up. I didn’t know exactly what to expect but I didn’t allow myself to overthink it, because I tend to scare myself off if I put too much thought into it. If you ever wonder why my forehead (some call it fivehead) is so big, it’s probably because it’s a vessel for my excessive thoughts.
Say cheese!
These are the pieces I made during last week’s BTC. A block of brooch, two chunks of mismatch earrings, and a thick slice of necklace.
I am very grateful to learn that the little live studio time was well received. The positive, constructive and even funny feedback encouraged me to keep sharing my world with the world!
Tomorrow, I will be horsing around with some patina finishing! Coloring is such a therapeutic process and I invite you all to join me at noon on my Instagram page.
Stay home and stay healthy! Tune in and stay inspired! Oh, last but not least, BYOB guys, nobody’s driving and the sky is unrealistically blue!!
