Every year Metal Arts Society of Southern California, or MASSC members get to participate in this fun challenge, where we each get a package of raw materials, and we have to use each one of them somewhere somehow in the piece.
These are what came in this year's package and what I turned them into:
Copper sheet → book pages
Copper gallery wire → snail's eyes
Silver bezel wire → cigarette ashes and snail's shell
Brass nails → snails' eyes
Silver tubings → binding rings and snail's body
Rose quartz → snail's shell
Addition material: more cooper sheets for 1 extra book page and the other snails' bodies
The idea came from children books, the kind where you push the same fuzzy plushie which becomes different things as each page dresses it differently. I always thought it is a very fun and neat idea and now I have created my own version of it!
Dedicated to the lost child in you all.
Hey, the answer isn't elsewhere, it is within the resourceful, powerful and magical YOU! Cheers!
